From Chiayi to Yushan walking in 15-20mins,you can go straight of Linsen West Rd,when you see the Gonghe Rd(共和路)just turn left. You will see the cute house soon.

Chiayi was important to the democracy progress in Taiwan,many culture heritage you can see there,the best tour guide is the host of Yushan Inn"余國信"Mr.Yu,he made many cultural activities and local conserved buildings here.If you want to learn more about the stories and interesting thing in Chiayi,he will be the best tour guide for tourists.

(but first,you need understannd his English-Taiwanese.He told me sometimes he speaks english,but the tourist said stopping speaking Taiwanese.)

 

Yushan inn is an ancient building,60years old.The local government thought the building is too old and want to rebuild,the local cultural workers did many effort to conserve it.In 2009, 洪雅文化協會Chiayi Hongya cultural association(http://chiayi-hoanya.blogspot.tw/)managed the whole building and run a coffee shop&hostel in building,have made the old house a new life.

 

  

The location of Yushan hostel(mark A) is near 北門車站Beiman Train station,although Alishan train now just have stop from Chiayi-Beiman,and the whole period is only 6mins.Just twice in a day,but still worthy to take once.

The location of Yushan Inn is close to Beiman train station.When you take off the train,just walk straight you will see it.

Now you can afford cheap price to stay here and listen music there,if you like ancient thing,here will be your favorite space.

Begins from searching a musical space...

The Forro Cafe is located in the western district in Taichung City,

The host Asuka told me that living space can have more imagination,she think hotel is too normal and polite that might let travelling reduce the delight,she desires to make space like cozy hotel,including restaurant,reception,and coffee&performance space,but let people feel easy and relax. I think the mixture is cool in Taiwan,because now B&B is not very often seen in Taiwanese travelling market,Forro is very unique.Actually the host Asuka wanted to find a musical space in Taichung for the live bands,and bands need a place to take a sleep,so Forro provides accommodation is accidently surprise. 

Asuka worked in a record company,having many friend working on Independant music in Taiwan.They want everyone(like neighbor or local people)can enjoy the musical concert and just need to pay affordable price,and that's why Forro born.

Sometimes "Muji Style"house in Taiwan might let people think the building isn't very friendly,but 靜巷六弄Back2home let me rethink and take importance of "home".This house becomes traveller's second home because of the human spirit.

Back2home is located near by the 逢甲Fengjia night market,which the biggest and popular district in Taiwan,but in opposite Back2home hide in a  calm living district,just like Shangri-la in the metropolis society.

Travelling isn't only discussing with local people,but also need to talk with yourself,especially when you travel alone.The host 賴乃伸(Lai)thinks the traveller's age is often around25-35(his custumer's range is more mature), not satisfied with their life or work,they will think travelling is a way to escape and cut from daily life.So Lai desires to provide a space can let people keep away from anxiety and busywork,rethinking about the meaning of life,problems and have simple attitude.I think the host of a hostel/inn is very important,when you chat with Lai,you will realize how big effort that he take to whole house,and how he loves his passionate life.

Not just hostel,here will be your second home.

Back2home actually is the mixture of hostel&inn,because the host seperate the public space and private room,so that makes visiters can see the others but still keep the private space.The arrangement of host was deeply infulenced from his memories of childhood,and he is touched and think many details that everyone can feel the warmth of the house.

 At first to arrive Green door,the people may not imagine there is a hostel here.Green door is located in the middle of Taichung City,have many military village here.When i come to Taichung,the residents told me Taichung is a  changed city,you can see the old building from Japanese colonied period to 1940.50 or high modern skyscraper.Each district is huge different.

But sometimes people want to keep the memories and old thing to remember some important   thing in their life.The host of Green door named 瓜瓜GuaGua is a cute girl,she teaches Japanese and learn Spanish,loves traveling around to discover the beauty of the world.She is worthy to write the whole articles,when she told us about the decoration she buy in exotic country,especially south-east asia(she just came back from Nepal in 2days and have time lag,she happily served the black tea from Nepal).Everything in her life has their story and price,and she told me "Every voyages is very unique in everyone's life"that deeply touched me.

 Taiwanese black sugar soap,naturally and cheap.

Old style,you might think that is all vintage,but to someone the memories is light but important.

When we lost our piece of daily life,what's is the most important?nothing left.

 

Old thing in Green Door is everywhere,we just go back to our childhood,some moody.

Green Door is so confortable especially in rainny day...

The military village that green door located is very old that local government desires to rebuild here,but have some local group thinks old memories need to protect(This situation is often seen in Taiwan.)I asked GuaGua that how's the future be?or how to face the problem?She didn't think about the solution yet.

In Green Door,there is a honest shop selling the travelling merchandise that GuaGua collected.She thinks about each traveller's mood when they come to Green Door,the bed&pillow or the decoration.She wants that they will feel calm and find their way to face the travelling. I think Green Door is not a typical hostel,it only have 4 beds.The host wants take good effort to all host and don't think earning money is only judgement to her.From the visit Green Door,i see the pure heart of the host and this is very precious in our society.
